Proto-Town

While software founders benefit from frictionless infrastructure, the physical hardware innovation boom in the United States is actively being stifled by a fragmented and expensive regulatory environment. Securing land, fighting archaic zoning laws, and building a supply chain can consume years and millions of dollars before a prototype is even tested. To confront this problem, Josh Farahzad, Merle Nye, and John Cyrier launched Proto-Town, a 3,000+ acre purpose-built industrial campus in Caldwell County, Texas. By securing unanimous development agreements, Proto-Town essentially controls its own zoning, allowing advanced hardware startups to bypass municipal permitting friction and move from concept to an operating facility in a matter of weeks.

At Cubit Capital, we are dedicated to partnering with leaders called to confront the world’s most foundational problems. By investing in Proto-Town’s unique physical network effect, we are proudly supporting a team dedicated to solving the hardware bottleneck, fortifying the American supply chain, and creating the infrastructural stability necessary for humans to flourish.
