Matter Intelligence
Most of the physical world remains entirely invisible to us. Because critical industries are limited by human vision and standard cameras, they are forced to operate reactively, waiting for catastrophic failures before addressing underlying chemical, moisture, or material degradation. To confront this blind spot, CEO Vishnu Sridhar and Technical Director Tom Chrien launched Matter Intelligence. Drawing on their decades at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory designing optical instruments for Mars rovers, they developed the EARTH-1 sensor. This breakthrough instrument captures over 2,000 spectral channels at a sub-50cm resolution to reveal a surface's true chemical makeup. Matter then pairs this hardware with a physics-informed "Large World Model" that translates these complex molecular signatures into actionable intelligence, allowing customers to easily extract precise outputs through a simple API.
At Cubit Capital, we partner with leaders called to confront foundational problems with both confidence and humility. By taking on the profound infrastructural challenge of upgrading how we measure and protect the physical world, Matter exemplifies the exact visionary technical leadership we look for. Pointing their deep space expertise back to our own planet unlocks immense practical applications, such as early use cases allowing utilities to detect microscopic line corrosion and empowering mining operations to map newly excavated rock by generating persistent, molecular-level digital twins. Cubit is proud to support the Matter team as they build a fundamental intelligence layer, equipping us with the foresight to build a secure, more resilient future.
